I started playing piano when I was 6 years old, at my mothers insistence. I liked piano, but I really wanted to play drums. In middle school I started playing percussion in the school orchestra. By eighth grade I bought my first drum set and was in my first rock band.

In high school I was center snare drummer in marching band, which went to state competitions. I also played in concert band and after school bands.

In college I studied music theory, studio recording technology and sang in the Chorus. I also picked up guitar and harmonica. To make ends meet, during college, I worked as a stage hand. Some of the acts I worked were the Rolling Stones, Prince, Peter Gabriel, Miles Davis, Deep Purple, The Police, Jethro Tull, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Quit Riot, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Aerosmith, J. Geils Band, UB40, Tina Turner, U2, INXS, Robert Cray, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Frank Zappa, REM, Jackson Browne, Judas Priest, Simple Minds, Commodores, David Gilmore, Eurythmics, Stevie Wonder, White Snake, AC/DC and Robert Plant.

I have played drums, harmonica and guitar in a variety of local bands such as The Andy Hersey Band, Lord Primate, Stranger, Truck, Pagan Holiday, The New Tragedies and Buckshot Blue.

I have over 25 years of music experience and over 20 years of drum teaching experience. My main focus is drums however I also am proficient on guitar, harmonica, piano and bass.
